This 6-week hand-building course invites students to explore animal forms as a sculptural focus. Taught by ceramicist Debbie Quick, Sculpting the Animal Form is ideal for students with a foundational knowledge of ceramics who are ready to deepen their artistic voice and expand their sculptural techniques. Through structured demonstrations, one-on-one guidance, and creative exploration, participants will learn to build expressive, anatomically informed animal sculptures using slab, coil, and pinch techniques. Emphasis will be placed on form, gesture, and surface development to bring each creature to life. Students will also gain confidence in working with complex hollow forms, attachments, and supporting armatures when necessary. This course supports both functional and purely sculptural approaches, encouraging each student to pursue a personal direction within the shared theme.
